Standards & quality
Drawn to your standard, checked against your inputs
A drawing is only correct in the language its reader speaks. We draw to ASME Y14 for North America and ISO GPS for the UK, Europe, Australia and India, in the national wrapper your market uses, and we only name editions we have verified. Every package is then checked by a second engineer before it leaves.

By market
Drawing standards we work to
Organised by drawing language with the national wrapper, which is how your inspectors read them.
| Standard | Where it applies | Edition we work to | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASME Y14.5 | USA, Canada — GD&T | 2018 (reaffirmed 2024) | Third-angle projection, inch or metric, ASME Y14.100 drawing practice |
| ISO 8015 / ISO 1101 / ISO 5459 | ISO GPS: UK, EU, Australia, India, Asia | Current ISO editions | Independency principle, geometrical tolerancing, datums |
| ISO 22081 | General geometrical tolerances (ISO markets) | 2021 | Replaces the withdrawn ISO 2768-2; legacy ISO 2768-mK title blocks updated on request |
| BS 8888 | United Kingdom | 2025 | UK wrapper for ISO GPS; first- or third-angle as your template states |
| DIN EN ISO / NEN-EN-ISO | Germany, Netherlands, DACH, Benelux | National adoptions of ISO GPS | DIN 6885 keys, DIN 5480 splines where specified |
| AS 1100.101 / .201 | Australia (NZ by agreement) | 1992, reconfirmed 2014 | Drawing practice; AS/NZS 5131:2016 + Amd 1 for structural fabrication |
| SP 46 / IS 10711 / IS 11669 | India | Current BIS | Sheet sizes and drawing practice for domestic OEMs |
| AWS A2.4 / ISO 2553 | Weld symbols: North America / ISO markets | AWS A2.4:2020; ISO 2553:2019 | Symbol system A or B stated on the sheet |
| ISO 8062-3 | Casting tolerances | Current | DCTG/GCTG grades on pattern and as-cast drawings |
| ISO 6336 / AGMA | Gear rating | Via KISSsoft | Applied only where we size the gears |
| ISO 12100 / ANSI B11.0 | Machinery risk reduction | 2010 / 2023 | Guarding and access designed to these principles; conformity marking remains the manufacturer\'s |
| EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 | EU machinery | Applies from 20 Jan 2027 | Technical-file-ready drawing sets; see our design guide |
What we do not claim: ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or ISO 27001 certification, CE or UKCA marking, or compliance with standards we have not been asked to apply. Machinery and medical conformity remain with the manufacturer; we prepare the drawings and documentation they file.
Checking
Two-stage check on every package
1 · Self-check by the engineer
Rebuild without errors, mass properties sensible, drawing views complete, every balloon on the BOM, flat patterns against the bend table, file names and properties per your template.
2 · Independent check
A second engineer who did not do the work checks against your inputs: dimensions back to the source, tolerances and datums to the standard, weld symbols, material and finish, interface dimensions, and the delivery list. Findings are corrected before dispatch and recorded.
Check record
One sheet per package listing inputs, items checked and discrepancies resolved. Delivered with the files; usable in your supplier audits.
Input verification
Supplied drawings, STEP and PDFs are cross-checked against each other; disagreements go on the query sheet, not into the model.
File handover
Native plus neutral files, saved to your version, with a delivery note and revision table; nothing kept on a licence or template of ours.
Projection, units and templates
Small things that cause large rework
- Projection: third-angle by default for North America and most Indian OEMs; first-angle where your template says so. The symbol is always on the sheet.
- Units: inch drawings for US clients that ask for them, with dual dimensioning only when specified; metric everywhere else.
- General tolerances: stated explicitly on the sheet (your table, ISO 22081 or ASME practice), never left implied.
- Templates: your title block, layers, blocks, properties and numbering; we never issue work on our own template unless you ask.
- Revision control: every re-issue carries a revision table entry and a change note; superseded files are named as such.
FAQ
Standards and checking questions
Can you draw to our company drawing standard instead of a national one?
Yes, and most clients do exactly that. Send your drafting manual, template and title block; we treat it as the governing document and apply the national standard only where your manual is silent.
Do you quote withdrawn standards?
No. ISO 2768-2 was withdrawn in 2021 and replaced by ISO 22081; we flag legacy title blocks that still cite it and update them when you ask. We only name editions we have checked.
Who signs off a drawing?
The checking engineer. Every drawing carries the drafter and the checker in the title block, and the check record lists what was verified against your inputs.
Can you provide a check record for our supplier audit?
Yes. The check record is a one-page sheet per package: inputs received, items checked, discrepancies found and how they were resolved. It is delivered with the files.
