Native CAD Platform

AutoCAD Drafting Services

Native DWG drawings drafted to your layer standard, blocks and title block — manufacturing and fabrication drawings, general arrangements, equipment layouts and legacy PDF or paper drawings redrawn as clean CAD. Drafted by mechanical engineers who read the geometry, not tracers who copy it.

Working In AutoCAD

2D Drafting That Follows Your CAD Standards

AutoCAD remains the common language for 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings, equipment and plant layouts and legacy archives. We draft in native DWG using your CAD standard — layers, line weights, text and dimension styles, blocks and title blocks — so files sit beside your existing drawings without a clean-up pass.

Much of our AutoCAD work is paired with 3D: GA drawings and layouts produced from our SolidWorks or Inventor models, or 2D archives converted the other way into parametric 3D. Either way the drawing is produced by an engineer who understands the part, which is what keeps dimensions complete and tolerances sensible.

  • Native DWG/DXF drafting with your layer, style and block standards
  • Manufacturing, fabrication, assembly and GA drawings with GD&T
  • Equipment, machine and plant layout drawings
  • PDF, TIFF and paper drawings redrawn as clean, scaled CAD
  • DXF preparation for laser, plasma and waterjet cutting
  • Drawing clean-up: purge, audit, layer standardisation and block libraries

Native files we deliver

DWG · DXF

Plus STEP AP214/AP242, IGES, Parasolid, DXF and PDF for anyone outside AutoCAD.

Versions

DWG files are saved to the AutoCAD release you specify; current and older DWG formats are supported. We also deliver DXF in the version your cutting software reads.

Handover to your PDM

File naming, sheet set organisation and attribute-filled title blocks follow your scheme, and external references are bound or packaged with eTransmit so drawings open without missing references.

What Travels, And What Does Not

DWG is a 2D (and limited 3D) format: it carries geometry, layers, blocks and attributes but no parametric features. For editable 3D we model in a parametric platform and derive the DWG from it.

Drawings exported from 3D systems to DWG keep geometry but lose associativity with the model; we state in the delivery which drawings are native 2D and which are exported views.

Scanned PDF and paper drawings are redrawn, not auto-traced — scale is verified against known dimensions and conflicts are resolved through a query sheet.

Standards

Drawn To Your Market's Standard

  • ASME Y14.5-2018 (R2024) for North American drawings
  • ISO GPS (ISO 1101, ISO 8015, ISO 22081) and BS 8888:2025 for ISO markets
  • AWS A2.4:2020 or ISO 2553:2019 weld symbols
  • Your own template, title block, layers and properties

FAQ

AutoCAD Questions

Will you use our CAD standard?
Yes. Send your CTB/STB plot styles, layer standard, text and dimension styles, blocks and title block; we set up a template for your job and draft to it.
Can you convert PDF drawings into DWG?
Yes, redrawn properly to scale with correct layers and blocks — not auto-traced vector output. See CAD conversion for how we verify scale and resolve conflicts.
Do you deliver DXF for laser cutting?
Yes, 1:1 per part with cut, bend and etch geometry on the layers your programmer specifies.
Can you produce GA drawings from our 3D models?
Yes. We generate GA and layout drawings from SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Solid Edge or NX models and finish them in AutoCAD if that is your drawing standard.
Which AutoCAD version do you deliver?
Any DWG version you specify, current or older, confirmed in the quote.
Do you also draft mechanical drawings in the 3D platforms?
Yes. Where a part is modelled in 3D we usually detail it in that platform's drawing environment so the drawing stays associative; AutoCAD is used where your standard requires DWG.
