Product Design

Concept to Production Product Development

A product taken the whole way: concept, detailed design, a design-for-manufacture review, and a drawing package a supplier can quote from directly.

The whole path, not a stage of it

Product development goes wrong most often at the handovers — between concept and detail design, and between detail design and manufacture. Carrying a product through all of those stages with one team removes those handovers and the assumptions that get lost across them.

Design for manufacture, applied early

A DFM review is worth far more before the detailed design is finished than after. Draft angles, wall thickness, tool access and standard material sizes were considered while the geometry was still easy to change, rather than being raised as problems once the drawings were complete.

A package a supplier can quote from

The output was a drawing set complete enough for a manufacturer to price without asking questions: dimensioned drawings with tolerances that reflect what the process can hold, material specifications, finish requirements and a structured bill of materials.

What was delivered

Concept models, the detailed 3D design, a full production drawing package, DFM review notes and a bill of materials.
